I was looking through a drawing book and I seen the neck muscles and just really wanted to draw them. So I did, and then added a spine. Since I didn't know how anything more looked when I attempted anything more it was aweful.
I added hair for two reasons; There needed to be some positive space or movement in the top right corner. Also with just the spine the neck was extremely thin which while is realistic looked odd, so I added hair on the other side to "flesh" out the neck a little. I made the hair curl at the bottom to show it's really hair and nothing else.
The scanner absolutely killed what shading I had added to the piece. I didn't ink it again because my pen is almost out and the hair looked a lot better with just different pressured strokes rather than ink. I'm pretty pleased with this piece.
Mitchell [:devGemini-Dreams:] came up with the title. I was looking for something contrasting alive and dead that didn't use the word dead or death or anything like that.
